Dark Chocolate can make you a better cyclist. It has been seen by researchers, and by the athelets we are friends with. Attending bike festival and races, we have noticed that cyclists and runners would reach for K’UL’s Saltsation bar after a race while sipping beverages that had added electrolytes and potassium in order to avoid muscle aches, spasms, and twitches.
Electrolytes are chemicals that form ions in body fluids. They help make sure specific bodily functions run at optimal levels. Too few electrolytes will cause the body to cramp. Everyone needs electrolytes and potassium, not only professional athelets.
This is what inspired us to create the Electrobar, which contains 70% dark chocolate, dried bananas, evaporated coconut water, toasted coconut chips, and Cyprus sea salt totaling 375mg of potassium and electrolytes. The bar is vegan as well as gluten-, soy-, and dairy-free.
“We really wanted to create a bar that was not only delicious, but functional,” says K’UL’s founder Peter Kelsey. “All of the cacao beans we use are hand-selected by us for their quality and taste, and we handle every step of production to make sure the end product meets our high standards. Chocolate is more than just dessert, and developing this bar to help athletes replenish electrolytes and potassium while giving them high-quality chocolate to enjoy is a great way to show that.”
